Any style of cabinetry can be built - from standard box-type to furniture-grade solid wood cabinets, from european style to face frame cabinets.
When given the choice, I like to build the cabinetry using strawboard, a material similar to MDF, but produced using straw fibre instead of wood fibre. The binder is a non-VOC, environmentally friendly glue unlike the formaldehyde based glues used to bind MDF. It's much healthier for me the builder, you the person who lives with this product in your home and the environment as a whole. I then use solid to face the cabinets giving a traditional look.
Custom Cabinetry
This is a shaker-style kitchen done in birch with the interior boxes made of strawboard. It has square african paduak wood pegs at each of the corners.
There are no upper cabinets in this kitchen, all of the dishes and food storage are in these full extension pull out drawers making access to everything easy for the whole family.
The drawer on the left is a spice drawer.
This kitchen is made of straw board
This bathroom vanity is made from 300 year old recalimed pine.
It is inset into the wall. The upper portion is flush with the wall an the lower half projects out 12 inches giving lots of storage space.
This kitchen is made entirely of painted strawboard. It was built in the shaker style and was constructed to have an old look.

The main body of this built-in dresser is made using strawboard. I applied a thin bamboo veneer to the face, and finished it with bees wax.
I recessed a channel in the face to work as a drawer pull to avoid bulky hardware in this narrow closet.
This maple entertainment centre has many unique features. It has frame and panel sides to match the existing wainscotting, egg-and-dart crown moulding, half round pillasters, arched base on front and sides, adjustable shelves, as well as eight full extension drawers for a large amount of hidden storage.
The finish, a three layer staining and four layer topcoat give this piece a rich, warm glow.
